Joseph Andrew Nygard

Joseph Andrew Nygard was of Swedish descent and was born on August 22, 1873. He immigrated to the United States in 1892 and settled in Worcester, MA. He married Anna Hendrickson Nygard sometime around 1896. It is unknown for sure whether they were married in the U.S. or Sweden.

According to the birth record of his son, Carl V. Nygard, it is unknown what town in Sweden they immigrated from. Joseph Nygard was a carpenter by trade who worked in the shipyard and subway system somewhere in Kearney Town, Hudson County, New Jersey area. He eventually as promoted to a foreman in the shipyard. He did become a naturalized citizen in 1900 and was tall in stature.
